You either had the right item or spell to fix it, died horribly soon after from your wound, or you retired the character. My guess is that the real issue here is one of two things:ġ) This "puzzle" is a reference to something in an old Acererak dungeon from a time when there wasn't an expectation that your character could get treasure and get out unmaimed from dungeons. You'll find plenty of those complaints for earlier books, though, which were even worse. The reviews and walkthroughs probably don't mention this as much because this is now the seventh book that does things like this. Get used to reading through the whole book at least once and taking notes before running it. I mean, there's often ones that ARE explicitly mentioned in the text but "forget" to reference the exact page/quest/whatever they link to. You'll find these sorts of interactions that are clearly intended on some level in the module that are never explicitly pointed out or mentioned in the text. WOTC's module books are often not badly written but are terribly connected. Combat areas for every conceivable encounter.
